Acca Larentia

The sculpture depicts Acca Larentia, the wife of the shepherd who found the twins. It was made by Jacopo della Quercia and shows her standing, with her breast exposed and a cloth, held by her right hand, that covers her from the waist down. She holds one of the twins in her arms, who lightly touches her breast, while the other is at her feet and reaches his arms toward his mother.
